Harbor Research survey on M2M adoption available from KORE Telematics

A Harbor Research survey, co-sponsored by KORE Telematics, has found that a majority of organizations across all industry sectors recognize the business value of M2M networking for remote device management. The international survey of early adopters of device networking evaluates the importance of M2M in the future success of the respondents' businesses. Free report.

Harbor received more than 250 responses from companies in all vertical markets and geographic regions. The Harbor survey results showed that most of the respondents recognized the strategic implications of M2M device networking to their business, including new revenue opportunities from additional services and a strong competitive advantage over less innovative competitors.

Research findings include:

  • 77 percent of respondents viewed the intelligence embedded in their products to be either “very important” or “imperative” for their company in the future.
  • 84 percent of respondents would invest in embedding networking capabilities into their products as opposed to retrofitting them after manufacture.
  • 50 percent of respondents were already supporting and monitoring existing devices deployed in the field.
  • More than 36 percent of respondents have more than half of their product lines network-enabled and within three years, 60 percent of these companies expect to embed networking capabilities into half or more of their product lines.

“The Harbor Research survey confirms the significant increase in M2M adoption that we are seeing in number of vertical markets, from the public sector to telematics to utilities,” said Alex Brisbourne, president and COO of KORE Telematics.
